Richard Browning Interview (flying suit inventor) on Invention Stories on YouTube Part 1. This episode is the first in a 2-part series.

Richard Browning is the creator of the “jet suit.” His company, Gravity Industries, is the creator and builder of his innovation, and he is the founder and primary test pilot. In this Richard Browning Interview, we cover the following:

Attending Boarding School

Browning went to Queen’s College, a boarding and day independent school for boys (now co-educational) in Taunton, Somerset, and then Cardiff University, where he studied Engineering for a month before switching to Exploration Geology.

Browning spent 6 years as a Royal Marines reservist and 16 years as an oil dealer with British Petroleum before creating Gravity.

Testing Engines

In 2016, Browning began testing the concept of “using the human mind to balance and regulate the body in flight construction,” which included the use of small gas turbines for power (jet engines).

TED Talk

His development process was chronicled in a 2017 TED talk and the book “Taking on Gravity,” which resulted with the first flight in November 2016.

In April 2017, Browning received an early investment and co-founded Gravity Industries alongside WIRED magazine and Red Bull. In 33 countries, over 100 public demonstrations of the breakthrough took place. He was dubbed a “real-life Iron Man” by several news outlets.
