We come in contact with many people in our lives and most are forgettable.  Not so with Frances Prado.  I will remember her the for the rest of my life.

Frances Prado

Growing Up

Frances Prado is the daughter of Mexican immigrants. who began their lives in the United States in 1963 as field workers.  Her parents were equipped with courage, determination,  and the desire to provide a better life for their family. Frances worked in the fields picking produce in Bakersfield alongside her family. And at the time, Frances did not realize the great impact working in dirt with my parents would have on her.

Frances Prado credits her family’s values that drove her through her life, and those values enabled her to begin my Costco career as a supervisor. She feels fortunate to have earn multiple positions throughout my 22 years at Costco. One that Frances is particularly proud of, Assistant General Manager of CWI packaging, the first woman to hold that position.

Results-Oriented

Frances Prado is result-oriented.  She excels at increasing productivity, cutting costs, and adopting lean manufacturing. Frances has also proven her ability to work creatively and analytically in problem solving and negotiating, relying on those 22 years of learning.

These experiences have greatly influenced the person who she is today.  They have helped provide her with the necessary skills for success as an entrepreneur/inventor.

Frances Prado, U.S. Patent Holder

Frances Prado is a U.S. Patent-holder. And that may not seem note-worthy, to date, only 7% of U.S. Patents are issued to sole female inventors in the United States. Only 0.3% of those are Latinas.  I want to be clear, that is 3 out of every 1000 patents issued.

When I learned of these statistics I was shocked.  We were invited by Frances to connect on Linkedin and happy to do so.  We at InventionStories.com believes everyone from every walk of life should have the ability to invent.  3 out of every 1000 is like finding a needle in a haystack.  She is a wife, mother, and an fantastic role model.  It is our privilege to interview Frances and share her story.
