Alan Beckley wears many hats…husband, father, successful inventor, podcast host, and what really has me intrigued…has developed a system to help inventors license their invention for royalties.
If you’re a regular listener to the Invention Stories Podcast, you already know that I don’t believe in our patent system. In fact, I believe it is totally broken. So if I were to act on my idea to try to turn it into a product, I would either use either a first to market strategy or try to obtain a licensing agreement.

Alan Beckley and the Wonder Wallet
Alan Beckely invented a thin wallet that held twice as many cards but flexed for back pocket comfort and turned it into a retail product: Savvy Caddy wallets. Well, like many inventors, Alan’s invention had humble beginnings… He sold Savvy Caddy wallets anywhere he could including fairs and festivals, military bases and VA Hospitals. His customers loved his wallets, but retailers were skeptical and manufacturers, it seemed, had little interest in licensing it. It was frustrating! Sound familiar?
