Episode 15 of the Invention Stories Podcast Shownotes

Sam Shames shares his background and how he decided to attend the Massachusettes Institute of Technology (MIT). You might think when someone who will one day attend MIT will grow up reading and pull apart the tv at least once to see how it works. This interview might surprise you as Sam actually grew up with a passion for of competing in and playing sports, especially wrestling. In fact, Sam’s love of competition drove him to excel in the classroom as well and he shares why he ultimately attended MIT.

Sam Shames Mit Engineering

Sam had imagined that MIT would be full of a bunch of nerds, whose only goal would be the educational pursuit of higher learning. What he didn’t count on was the fun he would have, especially working on the MIT student project Wristify which we profiled on InventionStories.com back in 2013. Wristify would ultimately become Embr Wave.

Body Thermostat

A team of MIT-trained Scientist

A team of MIT-trained scientists designed this body thermostat for anyone who is either too hot or too cold in a room full of comfortable people.  At the press of a button, Embr Wave helps you feel colder or warmer helping you feel comfortable too.

Anytime you start feeling too hot or cold, you can activate Embr Wave for an instant shot of thermal relief. Much like a body thermostat, directly cooling or warming the temperature-sensitive skin on your wrist.  The Embr Wave immediately recreates the chill of an ice cube on your skin in the summer or the warmth of your hands by the fireplace in the winter.

We first shared Wristfy- thermal comfort, reimagined on InventionStories.com back on December 2, 2013.  To read click here
